Igniter problems are one of the most common Dacor range calls, and most of them start with something simple: spillover fouling the igniter, a wet or misseated burner cap, or a clogged burner port. Dacor burners light from a spark igniter, and anything that interrupts that spark, or blocks the gas at the port, keeps a burner from lighting even when the parts are fine.
Clean and Re-Seat First
Lift off the burner cap and clean the igniter tip and the burner ports. Boil-over residue bridges the spark gap and stops ignition, and a cap set down crooked or still wet breaks the flame path. Dry everything, clear the ports with a soft brush, and seat the cap squarely. This resolves a large share of clicking-burner complaints without any parts.
When a Part Is Involved
If one burner will not light while the others spark and light normally, that burner's igniter may be weak or its wire loose. If no burners spark at all, the shared spark module or its power is suspect. A burner that lights but will not stay lit points to a valve or gas-flow problem rather than the igniter.
| Symptom | Likely Cause | What We Do |
|---|---|---|
| Clicks, will not light | Fouled or wet igniter, misseated cap | Clean, dry, re-seat |
| One burner dead, rest fine | Weak igniter or loose wire | Test and replace igniter |
| No spark on any burner | Spark module or power | Test the module and supply |
| Lights then goes out | Valve or gas-flow fault | Check the valve and flame |
| Constant clicking | Moisture or cracked igniter | Dry out or replace igniter |
When to Call
If cleaning and re-seating do not restore the burner, testing the igniter, spark module, and valves calls for a technician. Our Dacor maintenance guide covers keeping burners clean, and our oven code guide covers the oven side.
